Dear Cow

When I was young I gave thanks for milk: Dear God, Thank you for this day, thank you for this milk. Amen

I realized I was privileged to have milk.

This morning I prayed for forgiveness: Dear Cow, Forgive me for abusing you, for denying you your cowness. For treating you as a means to an ends. Amen

I realized I was complicit in the industrialization of animals.

  3. Great question. I had not got there yet, I had only begun lamenting. So I did/do not have a great answer. I have been slowly changing my food habits for a while now, towards organic and local. As well as buying from my local Asian supermarket, rather than driving to the chain supermarkets. But my dairy intake is one of the things that has not changed much. I am now a flexitarian (trying not to eat meat, but only really half committing), and so dairy was my way of letting go of meat. Your question prompted me to reconsider. Like meat, I probably won't give it up cold turkey. But I did do a quick Google search and found out there is a local and organic milk producer 10km from my place, which is within biking distance. So I think I'll try and supplement my dairy with that. Thanks for the challenge.
